What are the requirements for the storage environment of stainless steel strips

Temperature: 5-30 ℃, 15-25 ℃, avoid sudden cooling and heating.
Relative humidity: ≤ 60%, 40% -50%; Dehumidifier for rainy season/coastal use.
Strictly prohibit condensation: The temperature difference between day and night should be less than 10 ℃ to prevent surface condensation from causing white rust/yellow spots.
2、 Venue and Environment
The warehouse must be enclosed indoors and must not be exposed to the outdoors, rain, or direct sunlight.
Stay away from: salt spray, acidic and alkaline gases, chlorine gas, sulfur dioxide, oil fume, dust.
Prohibition of mixing: acid, alkali, salt, cement, carbon steel (iron ion pollution), galvanized parts.
Ground: flat and dry, with smooth drainage and no debris or metal fragments.
3、 Stacking requirements
Cushion height: ≥ 15cm above the ground (steel frame/cushion wood), ≥ 30cm above the wall.
Isolation: Different materials (304/316/430) are partitioned to avoid contact corrosion.
Layering: Single layer priority; Multiple layers should have sufficient load-bearing capacity and be equipped with soft isolation to prevent scratches.
Storage time: 3-6 months to reduce long-term storage risks.
4、 Packaging and Protection
The original packaging (waterproof paper/moisture-proof film) should not be disassembled in advance.
High gloss/mirror/brushed surface: with protective film to prevent dust, fingerprints, and scratches.
Handling: Soft lifting equipment, direct contact with steel wire ropes is prohibited to avoid collision.
5、 Daily management
Ventilation: Open windows on sunny days and close windows on rainy days to prevent moisture.
Inspection: Weekly inspection of packaging, condensation, and rust; Slight condensation should be air dried in a timely manner.
Cleaning: Do not wipe with acid or alkali, use neutral cleaner and soft cloth.
6、 Common risks
High humidity+condensation → white rust/yellow spots
Carbon steel contact → iron ion contamination → pitting corrosion
Salt spray/chloride ions → Passivation film damage → Corrosion
